Things To Do In Kruger

    • I Would definitely recommend a drive from Johannesburg to any lodge that you choose to  book in and around Kruger National Park.
      • Enroute, you can stop by to see the Blyde river canyon  ( Panorama route ) and if time permits – you can visit God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes as well.  We took this route while heading back to Johannesburg from Masodini Game Lodge ( place where we stayed ).IMG_3719Blyde River Canyon!
      • Please note that the entire panorama route will take about 8 hours while a direct route from Jo’berg to Kruger or vice versa will take approx. 5 hours depending on the stops made along the route.
      • Please do check with the lodge staff on all the details before you plan a drive.  Please make sure you arrive or leave the lodge before it gets dark.
    • You can stop by for lunch in Dullstroom, they have some lovely restaurant.

    • Masodini Game Lodge is in Balule which forms the northern part of the greater Kruger national park, but if you want, you can choose to stay in other parts of Kruger too depending on the budget and also the means of travel that you choose to reach your lodge. If you choose to fly – please make sure you choose a lodge that is closer to the airport and who provide transport from and to the airport. There are around 4 airports ( Skukuza Airport, Phalaborwa Airport, Hoedspruit Airport and the Kruger/Mpumalanga International Airport (KMIA) ).
    • I chose Masodini Game Lodge because I read a lot of reviews about them and their rating on tripadvisor was excellent.  And  Sabine ( who owns Masodini ) was responding promptly for all my queries.  As described in my experiences – the place, service and the hospitality was excellent. The staff from Masodini help you plan and arrange for the drive from the lodge to Kruger as well.

If you can afford and have a good budget, you should surely stay in Sabi Sands 🙂

  • While choosing and paying up for your lodge, please check if it is a full-board rate  or a half-board rate. You may have to check with the lodge on the facilities included in full board and half board so that you can plan your finances accordingly.  Drop a mail to them after your booking so that they can get back with all the details. Please note that game drives would be included only in some of the lodges. We paid for every game drive that we were on, separately other than the lodge stay.
  • You can check Tripadvisor first to read all reviews and then make a booking either in or
  • Keep atleast 4-5 days for the visit as you can do quite a lot around
    • Game drives in the mornings and evenings. Generally early morning game drives start at around 5:30 AM and it is for around 3 hours and then the evening game drives are during the sundown – which is from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM !
    • Head to Hoedspruit endangered species centre.
    • Visit the world famous Jessica – the Hippo.
    • Visit Kruger national park ( dawn to dusk for sure ) – This will surely take one full day and you should start as early as 5:00 AM so that you get back to the lodge by early evening.
    • May be relax a day in the lodge.
